Home Organisation Tips For Busy Parents

When we started having kids, I realised it was much more difficult to keep our home organised with young children running around than it was when there were only two adults in the house. Our normal routines just didn't work well anymore, and the clutter and chaos seemed to be increasing by the day. We had to change how we organised our home by streamlining our belongings, altering our daily routine and developing new habits. In time we learned some quick and efficient ways to keep the key areas in our home clutter-free. I started this blog to share our experiences of transforming our home and pass on our tips for organising your home when you have young children to look after.

Top Signs You Should Purchase Blinds Instead of Shades for Your Windows

If you are currently in the market for window coverings for your home, you might be looking at both shades and blinds. What you might be struggling with is deciding which of the two you want to install in your home. Both blinds and shades can be great window coverings for any home, but if you're curious about which one might be better, you should definitely consider the benefits of purchasing blinds instead of shades. These are a few signs that blinds might be the best choice for your home.

You're On a Tighter Budget

If you want to save some of the money in your window covering budget for purchasing curtains, or if you just don't have a lot of money to spend on window coverings at all, then you might want to check out blinds. Although some shades are cheaper than others, they are typically more expensive than blinds, overall. If you have a slightly bigger budget, you can purchase higher-end blinds. However, there are some very affordable blinds available for those who are on a budget, including aluminium mini blinds. Even faux wood mini blinds are pretty cheap, but they have a nice look, too.

You Want to Have Plenty of Light Control

One of the reasons why you might be interested in installing window coverings on your windows is so that you can block out the sunlight. However, you might like the freedom of being able to let a little bit of natural light in when you want to. With shades, you don't really have the option to filter out some of the light while still allowing some light in. With blinds, however, you can adjust the blinds to allow just the right amount of light into your home. Therefore, if you are someone who is looking for a little bit of privacy but who likes to enjoy a little bit of natural light in your home, then blinds will probably be right for you.

Someone in Your House Has Allergies

If you or someone else who lives in your house suffers from allergies, you might have to worry about things like household dust making the problem worse. If this is the case, then you might want to choose window coverings that are going to be easy for you to clean. Cloth shades can be hard to clean, but most types of blinds are pretty easy to dust and wipe down.
