Home Organisation Tips For Busy Parents

When we started having kids, I realised it was much more difficult to keep our home organised with young children running around than it was when there were only two adults in the house. Our normal routines just didn't work well anymore, and the clutter and chaos seemed to be increasing by the day. We had to change how we organised our home by streamlining our belongings, altering our daily routine and developing new habits. In time we learned some quick and efficient ways to keep the key areas in our home clutter-free. I started this blog to share our experiences of transforming our home and pass on our tips for organising your home when you have young children to look after.

4 Ways To Use Natural Stone To Enhance And Beautify Your Home

Natural stone has been used in the construction of homes for millennia. Stone is strong, durable and beautiful so it's easy to see why it remains a popular choice in modern times. If you'd like to use the natural and solid beauty of stone in your home, then here are four everyday household features that can be made from natural stone that will enhance and beautify your home.

1. Kitchen benchtops

Adding a stone benchtop to your kitchen will provide you with a stunning, timeless and long lasting feature. A stone benchtop can transform a dull and dated kitchen into an elegant and contemporary room.

Stone benchtops fit perfectly into any style of kitchen, from ultra modern to a traditional rustic design. They're also an excellent choice because the natural colours are neutral and can be mixed with any colour or material as you upgrade other elements of your kitchen over time.

2. Free-standing bath tub

Free-standing bath tubs make a striking and opulent addition to a bathroom. You can increase these virtues by opting for a natural stone free-standing bath tub instead of the traditional white ceramic version.

The chameleon like nature of natural stone makes them perfect whether you have a simple minimalist style or a more ornate and colourful look in your bathroom. Popular stone varieties for free-standing bath tubs are granite, slate and limestone.

3. Feature wall

Natural stone tiles are a common and gorgeous feature on many bathroom and kitchen walls, floors and splash backs. You can enjoy the beauty and warmth of natural stone in your living areas as well by creating a striking stone feature wall.

For a streamlined look, you can opt for traditional tiles in a single size to cover the whole wall. For a more sculptural and eclectic look, try using a variety of sizes, depths and stone types to create a textural and variegated pattern on your feature wall.

4. Outdoor table

Like most Australians, you no doubt place high importance on creating a comfortable and aesthetically pleasing outdoor living space in your home. A stunning and opulent natural stone table will help to create some wow factor for your outdoor dining area.

Natural stone tables not only look fantastic in an outdoor space, they're also ideally suited to the rigours of the Australian climate. They're naturally tough and won't crack, warp or tarnish even when exposed to extreme weather conditions on a regular basis.
